New episodes of Only Murders in the Building drop on Tuesdays in Canada and almost immediately, there’s a dissection of Mabel’s wardrobe. It’s a mix of great coats and boots, mini skirts with leggings, and lots of prints. For a long time, the main point of an actress’s wardrobe was to look as thin as possible and the go-to styling for that was lots of solid colours.
I’m not saying actresses aren’t pressured about their weight anymore, but TV styling has evolved and is now way more experimental and fun. The Mindy Project, Abbott Elementary, Never Have I Ever, To All the Boys I Loved Before, Loot – the clothes on these shows really pop. Mabel’s wardrobe definitely pops. Two requests this week for Mabel: one for a pleated trench (seen in the clip below) and the other for a crop jacket with pleated skirt.
The trench is the Vino Pleated Trench Coat by Sandro; for the matching set, the jacket is La Veste Limao by Jacquemus (sold out, but Zara has a similar one here) and the skirt is the Sunday Best Olive Mini Skirt, which is a staple at Aritzia but the colours rotate through the season. Mabel also wears this skirt in black.
So who is caught up on the show? I don’t think yesterday’s episode solved the case. It feels too early.
Robin Wright Looks Rich
Robin Wright was minding her own business on the street, talking on the phone and puffing on a cigarette and was papped in a cream sweater. It’s cozy season so I’m not surprised by the request but this one is not cheap. It is Gabrielle Hearst (even her name sounds expensive) but from the angle, I can’t see enough of the sleeve to gauge if it is the Clarissa sweater or the Lawrence sweater. Both are over $2k and it looks like the Clarissa in cream is nearly sold out.
I’m not surprised Robin wears expensive sweaters and I’m not one to shame a smoker (we all have our vices) but how do you get a smell out of this sweater? You can’t wash cashmere a lot because it’s so delicate, but it would absorb so much of the smell.
I’m sure she has a system (or her launderer does).
Here’s Robin her own line of pajamas from Pour Les Femmes.
Megan Park’s fantastic suit
Sarah posted about My Old Ass about a week ago and I received a request for Megan Park’s suit. I agree, it’s an excellent suit! Short suits are underrated! I think Lainey would love this. The problem is, I can’t find it.
I searched very high and very low and haven’t even come close. This makes me suspect that it is custom-made or vintage. The closest I got to the fabric was a Givenchy jacket and I really don’t think that’s it.
I’m well and truly stumped – any suggestions?
