Saoirse Ronan dropped a nice little tidbit about her time as a young actor that would have caused a lot of worlds to collide in the eyes of young viewers. The actress revealed that she had auditioned for a particular part in one of the hottest franchises at the time, but lost out to another actress for the role.
Saoirse Ronan revealed on an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the actress submitted herself for consideration for a role in the Harry Potter franchise, but eventually lost it. The actress could have starred with Emma Watson in the film, which would have put these two acting heavyweights in an already masterful collaboration way before Little Women did.
Saoirse Ronan auditioned for the role of Luna Lovegood
Evanna Lynch essayed the role of Luna Lovegood to perfection, making her debut in the franchise Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. While Lynch was perfect for the role, Ronan could have also had a unique take on the character, something that no doubt fans would have enjoyed a lot. Speaking about the process on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actress said:
But I had gone up for Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter years ago. Because it was like the Irish character, so they got everyone Irish in, like half Ireland to come and audition.
However, given that she did not end up getting the role had little effect on the franchise, as Evanna Lynch was able to play the character with the right amount of whimsy that she merited, delivering a performance to remember across all the films to come in the franchise in Harry Potter’s saga.
Saoirse Ronan has two great upcoming projects
Saoirse Ronan will star in The Outrun, which is a story about addiction. However, this was not the only film that the actress had on the horizon. Blitz is a World War Two Drama that sees Saoirse Ronan play a mother looking for her son, who seems to have been lost in transit in the Second World War.
Both are poignant films that might be talking about topics that have no relation, but Ronan’s acting prowess is sure to elevate each film, along with the very talented supporting casts that the respective films have. While there have been rumors about Ronan being cast in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming The Chronicles of Narnia adaptation for Netflix, Ronan has denied being cast in any role yet, given that the film is still in the writing process.
The Outrun is currently in theatres.
Blitz hits theatres on November 1, 2024.
