Shakira shares two sons with her former partner, Gerard Piqué, and has been documenting their family life since becoming a mom in 2013.
Shakira and the retired soccer player welcomed their eldest son, Milan, January 2013 followed by Sasha in January 2015.
“Sometimes it´s very hard when you can not see your sons for a month or even more,” the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer told Viva magazine in September 2019 of being a working mom. “It is so hard. But we call each other via FaceTime, so we are in constant communication, that helps.”
Shakira and Piqué started dating in 2011 before they ultimately split in June 2022 after 12 years together.
“We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the wellbeing of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy,” the now-exes said in a joint statement.
