Tracker Season 2 Can No Longer Fulfill My Greatest Wish After An Original Character’s Departure

Tracker season 2 can never fulfill my greatest wish now that an original character will depart the series. Launching in 2024, it quickly became the most-watched scripted show of the 2023-2024 cycle. I believe that the cast of Tracker is part of why I loved the series so much. It was charismatic and diverse, leaving me wanting them to grow more in the following seasons. Ahead of its TV return, however, a new update has crushed my greatest wish for Tracker season 2.

Even though Justin Hartley's central character operates alone on the open road at the helm of his reward-seeking operation, Colter's team in Tracker is elemental to his success. In Tracker season 1, Colter's team included Velma and Teddi Bruin, portrayed by Abby MnEnany and Robin Weigert, and Eric Graise's Bobby Exley and Fiona Rene's Reenie Green. It was skeleton but mighty, considering their success rate. That said, Tracker season 2 will complicate the team's dynamic in a pivotal way that risks throwing off the show's balance. Beyond that, my greatest hopes for the series are now off the table.

Teddi's Tracker Exit Means Colter Shaw's Complete Team Can Never Get Together

Colter Shaw's Tracker Team Will Fracture In Season 2

Robin Weigert as Teddi Bruin in Tracker.

Ahead of season 2, Tracker lost an original cast member. The series announced that Robin Weigert would exit the series as Teddi Bruin, one of Colter's two handlers who helped him operate his reward-seeking operation. Aside from Tracker losing a valuable character who has so much potential, there's also another downside to losing Teddi. It crushes my hopes of seeing Colter's entire team together to further establish their camaraderie. Assembling them physically will also strengthen the ensemble's chemistry, which is very important, considering that they only communicate virtually for the most part.

I found this update to be the most unfortunate because Tracker having its original cast in place was one of the series' strengths following its successful first season. Keeping Tracker's original cast intact as the series debuted season 2 would have been a display of strength and stability, but now, the cast will inevitably fracture, as it finds a way to write Weigert out. Teddi's marriage to Colter's other handler, Velma, only worsens matters since their marriage will face uncertainty to facilitate Robin Weigert's exit.

Why Teddi's Tracker Role Is Important Despite Her Minimal Screentime

Teddi Is Like Family To Colter

Teddi's Tracker role is necessary in more ways than one, even though she has had limited screen time. Teddi is instrumental to Colter's operation, as she helps him find new jobs, takes care of his maintenance and bills, as well as processes his reward payments. Beyond that, though, Velma and Teddi are essentially Colter's family. Colter has a strained relationship with his family, especially his mom, and Velma and Teddi have been the loving mother figures that he needs, looking out for him and checking up on him when no one else does. Losing Teddi is a considerable development for Colter all around.

Beyond that, I also adored what Tracker accomplished with the Teddi and Velma characters. I loved how CBS made Colter's handlers the sweet LGBTQ+ couple who were always there for him, and it was one of the things that endeared me to the series most. That said, I thought Velma and Teddi needed more screen time to develop and that their relationship felt staged since the characters had such brief moments to feature. Now, my greatest wish to see Velma and Teddi develop, and the entire Tracker cast remain complete in season 2, is officially squashed.
